My taxes are done because I fuckin rule. It took me all of an hour, and I did them with 2 different programs. If your AGI was less than $56k you can e-file federal for free at both turbotax.com and hrblock.com. Turbotax charges you like $25 to e-file the state and HRblock charges $30. I’m pretty sure they charge you for just the preparation, so you might as well e-file. It’s a hell of a lot faster than printing out the form and mailing it in. I say I’m “pretty sure” because it wouldn’t even let me view my state tax return without paying.

Last year I used some version of taxcut that they sent me for free, and I ended up e-filing anyway, but I COULD have done it for free if I wanted to. Last year one program gave me a return of $200 more than the other, so I obviously used the larger one. This year the difference between the two was $1. There shouldn’t be any difference at all, but it didn’t get flagged, so I’m not really concerned.

Anyhow, just thought I’d post a heads up for those of you that make less than $56k, or if you have pretax 401k deductions that put you below the $56k mark. There’s no reason to pay to file when you don’t have to.

Seamus and the Stuffed Quail

Last night I let Seamus play with his stuffed quail or whatever the hell it is. Mom got it and some other things for him for xmas. He was supervised of course. I don’t want to give him the opportunity to rip it to smithereens since I’ll be the one cleaning it up. After he figured out how to make it squeak he wouldn’t leave it alone.

There was a screw type thing in my tire. I noticed it a couple of days ago. Hibdon’s was too busy to fix it the other day, so I figured I’d put my spare on (since it’s a full spare), drop off the tire and come back and get it a few hours later. I will do that tomorrow. After replacing the real tire with the spare, I decided to go ahead and remove the screw type thing to see how big it is. Who knows how long I’d been driving on it. My SD600 is MIA, so I had to use the real camera to take some pictures, but that’s ok. Yes, that’s a quarter for size comparison.
