Some Progress
May 18th, 2008
So I’ve made some progress, I think. I finally replaced the back porch light.
And another to prove it works…
Then I went to recaulk the spare bathroom shower. A couple of tiles were a bit loose. I had planned to reglue and regrout those. Quite a bit of water had gotten on the drywall under the tiles. Apparently they didn’t have that waterproof drywall back in the day when my house was built. So guess who’s redoing the whole damn shower? Yah, that would be me.
So all the tile and everything is gone. I’m still working on a solution for the tile. I may have to redo some more drywall so I don’t have to stack one piece on top of the other. It’s too long a story to type. While I was at it I decided to remove the drop ceiling over the shower. It’s now going to be the same height as the rest fo the bathroom, minus the part where the light and cabinet are mounted. Here’s what it used to look like:
And here’s what the bathroom looks like right this minute:
And here are some other assorted pictures from the process:
I think I’m going to just put new tile. Fiberglass inserts would be easy, but I think they look kinda cheap. And after that I’m going to go ahead and redo the counter. The sink needs to be replaced anyway, so I’ll do that when I do the countertop. I’m also considering putting a light over the shower, since it’s so dark over there. Then what happens when I’m done? I get to do it all over again in the master bathroom. The spare bathroom is going to be practice or something.

Hey man, I ran into the same predicament a few years ago and i had someone come in and redo it. He still does all my tile work.

Destruction itself is “some progress” Glad got to see it live and in person.

Don’t worry, you’ll get to see the drywalling and/or concrete boarding process in person also, because you’ll be holding it in place.

Nice work! Hell you make it look easy.
