The Switch
April 19th, 2008
I’ve made the switch to Vista, for now anyway. It was time to reload my system, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I installed the 64bit ultimate version. We’ll see if it takes advantage of all my RAM and stuff.
I’m still installing software, so I’m using the portable apps installed on my thumbdrive. That’s another thing. Those portable apps kick ass. They’re all open source and once they’re on the thumbdrive you don’t have to install anything. I’ve been able to use them on every windows machine I’ve come across without any problems. I just need a faster thumbdrive. The one I have is pretty old. It’s really good for travelling because you can surf the web and stuff without having to worry about your personal information being kept on whatever computer you use.
So we’ll see how much more productive I am. I tried to install movable type on my server to try out the new version, but some perl module is giving errors and I’m waiting for my webhoster to get back to me. So this is what I’m doing in the mean time. As soon as team fortress 2 is done downloading I’m going to get my game on.

Sorry for the problem with Movable Type — if there’s some Perl module that’s too obscure for your host or something, do drop us a line and all of us on the team can try and make that easier in the future.
