The Time is Near
November 7th, 2007
First off, operation headlight replacement was a success. I didn’t break anything (meaning the car, not me). I went ahead and bought 2 bulbs because i figured the new one would be brighter than the old one. It’s not. In fact, it’s the same manufacturer. So I only replaced the one bulb that had burned out and now everything is all good in the headlight department (and I have a spare).
Now the real reason for this entry. It’s getting colder and it’s almost time to turn the heater on. I think it was 62 inside when I woke up this morning, and I probably wouldn’t set the thermostat higher than that anyway. I don’t remember what I set it to last winter. Last year I think I made it until November 21 before I turned on the heater. Ok, I don’t think. I know. The year before that it was the 16th, and before that I was in Illinois and I had to turn it on in October. So I’m going for a new record this year. The real question: Is it cheating if I make a fire?

It is cheating if you make a fire, unless it is for some romantic ambiance next to a lady.

It’s one thing to be cheap or frugal, it’s quite another to be a jew about saving money. Plus it’s not about survival of the fittest anymore, human beings invented fire and heaters so you wouldn’t have to suffer through a cold winter. If you wake up one morning with pneumonia don’t be surprise.
