Plan of Attack

November 30th, 2006

I think I’ve found a plan of attack for having Seamus in the house this winter. The biggest problem is bringing him back inside the house. Since I cleaned out the garage last weekend, I think we’re gonna be all good. I’ve been taking him out the side garage door. There are several benefits to doing this.

  • There’s slightly less wind over there
  • We don’t have to walk across the back porch which is normally wet (less muddy paw prints in the house)
  • If he does walk through something wet I can dry him off in the garage, or we can hang out there for a few minutes until his paws are dry
  • The garage acts as a buffer between the semiwarm house and the supercold outside

And there you have it. Seamus+winter=10% fun. The only other real problem is the trail of water he leaves on the floor after he takes a drink. However, it’s not as bad as it used to be. At least I have tile floors. That’s good, I guess, and he has no problem being in his kennel whether I’m home or not. He got more excited than he probably should have when I brought the kennel in and set it up last night. He was trying to get inside it before I even had it set up.

So maybe this winter will be less of a pain in the ass than last winter was. I guess we’ll see…
