Get Your Stripe On

November 30th, 2006

Since I took all my data off my ATA drives and the Netgear SC101 isn’t worth a shit, I decided to take 4×120gb drives and stripe them. The bad thing is that they’re dynamic disks in Windows, so if the box gets reformatted they go away (I imagine). I thought about gettin out my old ATA66 RAID card and setting up a RAID5 array, but ATA66 is too slow. I might do it anyway just to check it out, or I might try and figure out why my onboard RAID doesn’t find the drives. It doesn’t show them at POST, but they are there in Windows, so who the hell knows what’s up with that.

Here are the striped drives in all their 457Gb of gloriousness (is that a word?):

Can you tell that work was cancelled and I don’t have a lot to do today I have a lot that I could do but this is more fun? Pictures (and maybe video) of Seamus playing in the snow to come shortly.
