there hasn’t been a lot of blogging this week, so i thought i’d write an all encompassing kind of entry to let everyone know what’s going on.

this week i:

• flew to georgia
• sat through 2 days of powerpoint presentations
• did the 180 day inspection on a 400 gallon fuel bowser
• walked through a certain aircraft sitting in the inspection dock, and learned various aspects of the inspection process
• TIG welded, and cut a 1/2″ steel plate with a plasma cutter and oxyacetylene torch (i’m an ace with oxyacetylene)
• learned the ins and outs of non-destructive inspection
• disassembled the brakes of a boeing 707
• crawled inside the wing of an airplane
• took apart an rebuilt the battery from the auxiliary power unit
• saw drag queens in macon, the last place you’d expect to see a drag queen (the gay bar had the cheapest beer on the strip)
• went to rose hill cemetery and downtown macon to take pictures, and then left early because it started raining
• saw wedding crashers
• bought an iPod shuffle
• became a GS-11
• didn’t blog much
• did laundry
• i can’t think of anything else

i’m sure there’s more, but that’s about all i can think of. i think i got all the important stuff. tomorrow we’re going to andersenville, and somewhere else. i don’t know what’s at either place, but i’m taking my camera. the guard unit here only works tuesday through friday so they found “fun” stuff for us to do on the mondays that we’re here. it’s kind of like a vacation here since i don’t have to go to “work” every day, but i’m already ready to come home. georgia is beautiful and this is a nice base, but i hate living in a hotel, and sharing a rental car with 2 other people, one of whom is one of hte most anal people on the face of the planet. i won’t go into any detail, but if i talk to anyone i might have a funny story or two. mostly it’s just annoying, so take comfort in the fact that i’m not having THAT MUCH fun.
