i’m here
August 1st, 2005
well, i made it to warner robins, georgia. it wasn’t a bad flight and the traffic wasn’t too bad on the way down here, at least it was better than i expected. i have internet access because i found an unsecure wireless access point. good thing i brought this spare wireless NIC i had lying around. the hotel advertises that they have internet access but i haven’t looked into it. i could be using it right now or it could be from somewhere else. i don’t really care, i’m just glad it works.
not that i’m a jew, but i don’t think i’m going to spend that much money on food while i’m here. tonight we went to IHOP and then walmart. i spent a total of $31, 10 for IHOP and 21 at walmart. i got quite a few groceries and they’ll probably last me through the weekend. per diem rate is about $28 per day for food, so if i do this for the next 3 weeks i should be in good shape. might even have to treat myself to a few steak/seafood dinners.
anyhow, i have made it safely. we meet the commander tomorrow morning and i guess they’re going to brief us on what we’re going to do while we’re here. we have pretty nice accomodations. they had blocked off a suite for each of us, but i told them that i’d rather share one with dan. it has a living room and a kitchen sink and counter, but no dishes or stove. there are 2 rooms per suite and each room has its own mini fridge, freezer and microwave. it’s pretty nice. i’ll take some pictures tomorrow and upload them. if you’re ever around here and you can get lodging on base, i would recommend this place.
i better head out. 7am tomorrow is going to seem pretty early considering the time change. i’ll holla.
