i have determined that it is not feasible to podacst in lieu of blogging. they are different mediums and one cannot be substituted for the other. i have decided to podcast and blog, but i don’t think i will podcast the blog entries and vice versa, unless i read and record the already typed out blog entry. i don’t think i’ll let TALKR do it.
podcasting does not allow readers (listeners) to click links and view pictures, and i think that’s a very big part of a blog. a lot of my entries are written with included hyperlinks to pictures that are vital to the entry itself. the entry loses a lot of meaning and impact without these important pieces. podcasting is unacceptable for this type of entry.
however, there’s something about hearing someone tell a story that cannot translate to type. there’s no vocal inflection in type, well you can fake it, but it’s not the same. if you have more than one source of input, i.e. people, i think podcasting is a better way to get the message across.
take the dawn and drew show as an example. there are 2 of them (hence the title). they talk about nothing for 20 or so minutes. if it was typed out it would be boring. i don’t think it’s all that great to begin with, but they have a funny moment or two. it just wouldn’t work if it wasn’t a podcast (or audioblog).
so that’s my reason for separating the blogging and the podcasting. they can both be effective tools, but you have to know what to use each of them for. just for the record, podcasting kicks audiblogging’s ass by a long shot, whether you have an mp3 player or not. that’s a story for a different day. i need to go figure this out. i have a new medium to find a place for in my layout.

just draw all your blogs in an animated sequence and dub the audio over it?
