Samara

March 17th, 2005

so jon has 2 extra tickets to a sneak preview of The Ring-Two tonight. kat and i are going to see it with him and his “date” or whatever. last night he asked me if i wanted the extra tickets and i replied “hell yes.” who would turn down a chance to see Naomi Watts in a movie, or otherwise for that matter?

anyhow, i have no work on my desk this morning so i surfed on over to the ring 2 movie website. how gay did that sound, “i surfed on over?” i’m lame. anyway, i have a problem with one of the characters in the movie. remember the evil bitch, Samara? well there were 3 different actresses that played her in the first ring movie. This time one of those actresses was asked to play Evil Samara in the sequel.

my problem is this: the actress they picked is named kelly stables. i have no problem with her per se, but she’s cute. i think it’s fucked up that they hire a cute actress and put makeup on her to make her all ugly and monster looking. why not just hire an actress that doesn’t need makeup? i think it would save a lot of time in the makeup process. besides, cute actresses have no problem getting movie roles. it’s the less attractive (or downright hideous), but just as talented actresses that have a hard time finding roles.

let’s think about the movie “Monster.” you have to give Charlize a shitload of credit for putting on the weight and changing herself into a totally different person. i didn’t even know it was here until i saw the credits, that’s how different she looked. she gets a pat on the ass for that one. as superficial as hollywood seems, how many hot actors/actresses would gain 30 pounds for a movie role? i sure wouldn’t, although i’ve already done it inadvertently, so i might as well do my overweight movie before i lose the pounds.

so am i wrong here in thinking that they should help out the ugly actresses out a little more? the industry is already biased toward beautiful skinny chicks. why not help out the non-beautiful ones as well? if i’m ever a movie producer i’m going to make a movie and only cast slightly overweight and only moderately attractive actors/actresses.

I forgot to mention that kelly stables was in the movie “Bring it on Again,” which i have not had the pleasure of watching. i’m going to watch it and see if it’s a good as the first one. heh.

they do not want the ugly actress at the oscars or grammy’s. you get a cute one and ugly her up and then when is at the awards, you have some eye candy.
