i had a pretty good entry typed out, and then windows crashed (big surprise). here’s a shorter, not-so-up-to-par entry to take its place:
if you’d like, listen to the Beastie Boys’ tribute to NYC while you’re reading the entry.
It’s been 3 years since almost 3,000 innocent people were killed when the World Trade Center was taken out by terrorists. let’s take a moment to remember where we were when we found out. i was up in the snack bar eating breakfast before class (i don’t remember which class it was because i hardly ever went to any of them). let’s take a moment to remember those lost, and what their loved ones must have gone through when they heard the news. i remember how i felt when someone told me one of my friends was in the WTC when the towers collapsed. i also remember the feeling of relief when i found out that she was nowhere near the area.
i’ve hunted down a couple of pictures to show the difference in the skyline since the collapse. it’s very noticeable.

there’s obviously something missing there. i just wanted to remind everyone of the tragedy that occured 3 years ago today. i didn’t even realize that today was the 11th until i updated my check register this afternoon. so send some prayers if you’re one of those religious types, or observe a moment of silence, or do whatever you do; just don’t ever forget.

i think all those people against the war on terrorism need to read this every morning.

don’t get me started on the war on terrorism protesters. those fuckers don’t even realize that in many countries they’d be shot or run over by a tank for openly disagreeing with the government. good point, the bug.

hey, i’m happy to defend the rights of those assholes. i just hope they appreciate my efforts. i still remember that day like it was yesterday, and it makes me damn proud to be an american willing to put my life on the line to prevent it from ever happening again. not much of the praying type, i did observe a moment of silence today with my brothers-in-arms.

thanks, jomama! my mom will be so happy to hear it. of course, a huge part of why i do my job is to make my family proud. i’ll add you to the family tree - gives it more of a ‘forking’ effect, and being from alabama, we probably need it…

i was asleep when it happened. nathan woke me up and told me my birthday will never be forgotten, and i will hear 9/11 for eternity, never with the same meaning. it was his birthday too. in time, just when you think you know how you feel about something, worked your way through it, tried to make sense of it, and move on from there, something happens as a reminder that what you think you know about the world and the people you share it with, is turned upside down, and you have to start all over again. the last time that ’something’ happened, we were standing at ground zero. i was trying to hold back tears thinking about those who lost their lives and trying to hold down my lunch thinking about the vile bastards who took their lives.

I feel honored that there are those willing to protect me and my freedoms. I love this country and the fact that it allows me to be me!
