Vulnerable?

i ran a port scan on my computer tonight, since i had to redo my firewall rules, to see what was open. i found 2 that i was not aware of. i recommend that anyone with a broadband connection do a port scan to see what’s up. granted, you are more like to be struck by lightning, than to get hacked, so anyone who has been struck by lightning should definitely do this.
1. download this free program. it’s not a virus i swear.
2. unzip, install, and run the program
3. go here and find out your ip address.
4. in the “Select IP” box, type your ip address from the website in step 3 and click “scan.” after the scan, click the + next to your ip address in the bottom window, and then click the + next to ports. it will tell you what ports are open. here’s a pic of my scan after fixing my firewall.

since the only people that read this are my family and friends, if you have any ports open, or have any questions, shoot me an email. you should know the address by now. you can also go to grc.com and it will do it all online, but it’s more fun to do it yourself. if you do opt to go to grc.com, after you click “proceed” there will be a blue header that says “shields up services” in the middle of it. click “all service ports” for a complete scan. it will take a few minutes, and give you the results. you can also go here if you find a port open, and want to know what that port is used for. the port lookup is further on down the page.
for some reason my notification is not working. that pisses me off!
